What to put on a general contractor invoice
- Trade and subcontractor quotes, including supervision and coordination time
- Crew and site labor, including mobilization, protection, and cleanup
- Materials, fixtures, deliveries, and a realistic waste allowance
- Permits, equipment rental, disposal, and other direct project costs
- Overhead, profit, and a contingency tied to documented scope risk
Notes worth adding to a general contractor invoice
- The draw or milestone this invoice covers and the contract balance remaining
- Each approved change order with its number and amount
- Allowance reconciliations for customer selections
- Lien waiver terms on payment, where your state uses them
Licensing and permits for general contractors
